It’s that time of year again and the 7th Annual Kinzua Chapter of McKean Co. A.B.A.T.E. of Pennsylvania Christmas for Kids Event will be happening on Aug. 28th, rain or shine at the Bradford Community Lions Lodge on West Washington Street.
The Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education is a 501 C non-profit organization whose 3 mission statements are: the protection of individual rights of motorcyclist through political change, public education with the PAMSP (Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program), OSAL (Operation Save A Life), and last but not least, charitable donations.
A.B.A.T.E. of Pa. has nearly 6,000 members in 47 Chapters and generates millions of dollars a year to benefit everything from veterans, and children’s programs, animal shelters and helping individuals in need.
The Kinzua Chapter boasts around 125 members in McKean Co. and other nearby Chapters can be found in Elk, Potter, Tioga, and Cameron Counties as well.
The Christmas for Kids event starts with a self-guided Motorcycle Dice Run that will cover a list of tourist type destinations like the Kinzua Bridge and the Zippo/Case Museum, just to name a few.
Refreshment stops are highlighted on the map for our Gold Card Sponsors as well. Registration is from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Lions Community Hall on West Washington Street.
Being a family friendly event means bringing the kids so they can get their own tattoos and participate in kid friendly games.
A pulled pork dinner is available for purchase as well as snack bar food from 1 p.m. until sold out. A dunk tank will be on site with local personalities volunteering their time for some good laughs as well.
DJ Big Al will keep the air filled with great music all afternoon and then County Lines will be on stage from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by the Drednecks from 7 to 10 p.m.
A motorcycle bike show will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. with plaques donated by JM Wood Designs.
Other activities will include a Chinese auction, small games of chance and raffles.
To date the Kinzua Chapter has raised over $70,000 from their Christmas for Kids Event. All money raised stays in McKean Co.
Some of the recipients from McKean Co. in the past include, the local angel trees, food banks, the Salvation Army, the Bradford City Police and Firemen children’s projects, the Mayfly Project, YWCA, Mount Jewett Community Christmas & Kane Community Centers.
The Christmas for Kids Committee showed their appreciation to individuals and businesses past and present for helping them make the event possible.
