A Bradford couple was arraigned Thursday on charges of burglary and trespassing.
Kylie J. McLaughlin, 26, is charged with criminal conspiracy — burglary (no person present), a second-degree felony; criminal conspiracy — theft by unlawful taking, a third-degree felony; receiving stolen property, a third-degree felony; and criminal mischief — damage property, a third-degree misdemeanor.
Joshua D. Goodnote-Miller was charged with the same crimes, with an additional two summary offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, at approximately 10:17 a.m. on Monday, Bradford Township Police were dispatched to Universal Well Services on Industrial Drive for a report of a burglary.
While there, personnel from the business stated that sometime between July 13 and Monday, a person or persons broke into their facility and stole 87 commercial batteries and an unknown length of copper pipe.
Universal employees also said the main gate padlock had been cut, a key lockbox had been smashed and the facility key stolen, and a commercial window and door were damaged.
Reports indicate that after talking to Miller and McLaughlin on Thursday, police learned that they both engaged in a conspiracy to commit burglary and theft of the items from within Universal Well Services.
Additionally, Miller allegedly informed police that he drove his vehicle through private yards and a parking area between a building owned by Cummins Construction and the rear of Universal Well Services, causing minor damage, for the purpose of removing the stolen batteries and copper.
Reports indicate that Miller then allegedly admitted that he drove the stolen items to Weitsman Recycling in Allegany, N.Y. and that his girlfriend (McLaughlin), was present with him at both Universal Well Services and Weitsman Recycling where they fenced the stolen items. It was further admitted by Miller that between July 13 and Monday, he and McLaughlin made entry several times to steal items owned by Universal Well Services.
Both McLaughlin and Miller were arraigned before District Judge William Todd and are currently being held in McKean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail each.
