HARRISBURG — A Mount Jewett man has been cited by the State Ethics Commission for alleged violations while he served on the Mount Jewett Regional Sewer Authority.
Brian Sees, according to the commission, violated the ethics act by voting on sewer projects when he would receive a pecuniary benefit as a supplier of materials.
The commission alleged that while Sees was serving on the authority, he was also owner of a stone quarry in Mount Jewett known as “Snowdome.” Contractors independently mine there for sandstone and topsoil.
While on the authority, Sees voted to approve awarding contracts to two contractors who used the “Snowdome” for materials, thus benefiting financially from his position on the authority, according to the commission. The information was not listed on his “statement of financial interests” in 2019 and he had failed to file any statements in 2015 through 2018.
A consent order and agreement was entered into, where Sees agreed to pay $3,000 to settle the action. He also agreed to file statements of financial interests within 30 days of the order, according to the commission. Compliance with the agreement will result in the matter being closed.
