ERIE — American Red Cross blood drives have been set across the region for the month of August.
In McKean County, a blood drive will be held from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Kane; from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at the First Church of God in Eldred; and noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Smethport Fire Hall.
In Cameron County, a blood drive is set for 11:30 a.m. — 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 12 at the Vets Club at 427 East 3rd St.
In Elk County, a blood drive was set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 11 at St. Marys Moose Club Lodge, 30 Erie Ave.; and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 13 at Johnsonburg Senior Center, 430 Center St.
The American Red Cross has an emergency need for lifesaving blood amid the ongoing severe blood shortage. Blood donations continue to be critical to meet hospital demand and the public is urged to make an appointment to give now.
The Red Cross has been distributing about 12% more blood products to hospitals across the U.S. compared to this time last year.
