Open Arms Church of Bradford has announced a back-to-school shopping event to take place on Aug. 15.

The church will provide 100 students in the Bradford area with a $100 Walmart gift card, and volunteers will accompany the students as they shop for clothes to be worn in the new school year.

Students and volunteers chosen to participate will attend the church’s 11 a.m. service at their 1289 E. Main Street campus, after which they will be served lunch before travelling to the Bradford Walmart for the event. Parents wishing to sign up their children for a chance to participate, those who wish to volunteer to accompany the students chosen, and those who wish to donate to help cover the cost of the outreach are encouraged to visit www.oachurch.com/bts/.

“This event is very special to us,” said Open Arms Missions Coordinator Annette Stark. “We get to share in the joy and newfound confidence these students experience as they pick out their new school clothes.”
