The number of new cases of COVID-19 in the region has been falling each month, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
So far this year, from Jan. 1 to July 21, there have been 2,106 new cases in McKean County; 1,411 in Elk County; 637 in Potter County; and 159 in Cameron County.
To break that down further, within the last month, there have been 31 new cases in McKean County, 8 in Elk County, 20 in Potter County, and 8 cases in Cameron County.
From May 21 to June 21, McKean County had 86 new cases, Elk had 14, Potter County had 45, and Cameron County had 7.
From April 21 to the same time in May, McKean had 345 new cases; Elk had 88; Potter had 132, and Cameron had 15.
As of Wednesday, there were a total of 3,839 cases in McKean County, and 75 deaths. In Elk County, there have been 2,876 cases and 41 deaths. In Potter County, there have been 1,232 cases and 25 deaths. And in Cameron County, there have been 316 cases and 9 deaths.
And for the number of people vaccinated, as of Wednesday, there have been 2,839 in McKean County partially vaccinated, and 13,251 fully vaccinated; in Elk County, 1,052 partial and 13,630 full; in Potter County, 626 partial and 4,336 full; and in Cameron County, 188 partial and 1,943 full.
The statewide total of COVID cases to date is 1,217,857.
According to the CDC, as of Tuesday, Pennsylvania ranked 5th among all 50 states for total doses administered and 61.9% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.
