THINKING OF SPRING: Bradford resident Donald Neal shared a poem about a spring day with us. Readers can enjoy the work below.
A Spring Day in America
The sun rose slowly in the eastern sky,
At the beginning of a brand new day.
The storm clouds and the torrent of rain,
Have finally gone away.
The wind that moved the storm clouds,
And bent the limbs of the trees.
Had now moved off with the storm,
And has become just a gentle breeze.
The sun would dry the leaves of the corn,
That now stood tall in the farmers field.
Its thirst having been quenched by yesterday’s rain,
A bigger crop this land would yield.
The birds are singing their beautiful songs,
As they build their nests far up in the trees.
Their songs echo throughout the land,
Like the buzzing of the honey bees.
Another spring day in America,
A land where freedom reigns supreme.
Where happiness is close at hand,
As you live your American dream.
