A Cattaraugus, N.Y., man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly fled a police officer in a motor vehicle Monday morning.
Zechariah W. Wheeler, 23, is charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and reckless driving along with various other summary charges.
According to a release from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, Wheeler was arrested after deputies responded to Exit 25 on Interstate 86 for the report of a pursuit that originated in Salamanca, N.Y. The investigation revealed that Wheeler had allegedly driven the suspected vehicle for the entire pursuit, which eventually ended in the state of Pennsylvania.
Wheeler was processed and released with appearance tickets and is due in the City of Olean and Town of Allegany Courts at later dates.
