Get ready to grab an umbrella, as the area is predicted to be hit by thunderstorms and periodic rain showers throughout the week.
“The first half of the week looks unsettled and warm — a little warm and on the humid side,” said Craig Evanego, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in State College.
Today is expected to have highs in the lower 70s, with showers and thunderstorms, while tomorrow will be in the lower 80s with showers and thunderstorms highly likely between 2 and 8 p.m.
Wednesday will bring highs in the upper 70s, with a 70 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm. The chance of showers and thunderstorms will carry into Thursday and Friday, with highs in the lower 80s both days.
In regards to precipitation, Evanego said while we are above average for July, we are below average for the entire year.
“The first six months of the year were a little below normal,” explained Evanego. “By the end of June, we should be at 27.65 inches of rain, though we were at 21.32.”
Although the area may be behind in total precipitation of the year, the Bradford area in particular had already seen 3.77 inches by Sunday evening, whereas it usually reaches around 4.63 inches for the entire month.
