A Bradford man was jailed Thursday for allegedly attacking his brother with a metal baseball bat at their Pike Street residence.
Austin Krouse, 20, of 7 Pike St., is charged with aggravated assault with extreme indifference, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, at 2:20 p.m. Thursday, Bradford City Police were responding to a domestic dispute at Krouse’s residence when the 9-1-1 caller said he had heard a gunshot.
When police arrived on scene, the victim came out of the house, and his right hand was covered in blood. Krouse came out of the house carrying a metal baseball bat, and was ordered by police to drop it. He eventually complied and was secured by police, the complaint stated.
Everyone on the scene said there was no gun or gunshot, but the loud noise was Krouse smashing a window with the bat, the complaint alleged.
After the window was smashed, Krouse struck the victim in the arms and shoulders with the bat, and attempted to hit him in the head. The victim was taken to Bradford Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, according to the criminal complaint.
Krouse was arraigned before District Judge Dom Cercone and remanded to jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Wednesday.
