EMPORIUM — The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library is presenting “The Art and Practice of Seed Saving” in partnership with Penn State Extension.
Elk County Master Gardener, Stephen Marconi, will be presenting this great seed saving class on July 24 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the library’s multipurpose room. Space will be limited, so register early to attend this free class.
Attendees will learn the wonderful complexity, yet joy, of saving seeds to preserve the past and prepare for the future. This science and research based class will explain basic botany and mating systems, preparations and simple tools needed, maintenance, harvesting, cleaning, and storage of seeds of heirloom varieties and wild native plants.
Though the class is free, the library will be accepting donations to go towards the cost of this and other Master Gardener programs.
Those interested in attending the program should register no later than 6 p.m. July 23, either on Facebook or by calling the library at 814-486-8011.
