MOUNT JEWETT — Free DiscoverE! day camp programs for children 3-12 will be held at Bendigo and Kinzua Bridge State Parks. DiscoverE! encourages children to learn more about the world in which we live by getting outdoors to Explore, Experience, and Enjoy the opportunities in our state parks. Activities vary by program but most will include games, crafts, guided hikes, and habitat explorations.
Registration is required as DiscoverE! Programs are limited to 10 campers and their guardians. A parent or guardian is required to attend with their children.
At Kinzua Bridge State Park, the DiscoverE! Programs will include the following:
Outdoor Explorers, for age 6-8, from 9 a.m. to noon on July 27 & July 28:
Outdoor Explorers will meet new friends while learning about the wildlife that calls Kinzua Bridge State Park home! On July 27, children will investigate animal tracks on the trails and then make our tracks. On July 28, they will explore the world of reptiles and amphibians and go for a hike in search of these unique animals.
Penn’s Adventurers for age 9 to 12 from 9 a.m. to noon July 29 & July 30:
On July 29 we will investigate the world of birds. Learning what makes birds unique as we search the park for feathered friends. July 30 will provide opportunities for campers to hone their outdoor skills including activities like geocaching and archery.
Hike ‘n Seekers for ages 4-5 from 9 to 11 a.m. August 2:
Send your young learner on an insect investigation in this engaging half day program. Through songs, games, and crafts children will learn about what makes insects unique. This program also includes a guided insect hike with park educators.

Bendigo State Park DiscoverE! Programs will include the same age breakdowns, with Outdoor Explorers (6-8 year olds) set for 9 a.m. to noon July 13 & 14; Penn’s Adventurers (9-12 year olds) from 9 a.m. to noon July 15 & 16 and Hike ‘n Seekers (4-5 year olds) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 21. Each group will learn fun things about nature and wildlife at Bendigo State Park.
