An Eldred woman was arrested Wednesday in Portville, N.Y., for allegations that she was a fugitive from justice in McKean County.
According to Olean, N.Y.-based state police, on Wednesday troopers pulled Brittany D. Mitchell, 32, over on South Main Street, Portville, and realized that she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of McKean County. She was arraigned in Allegany (N.Y.) Town Court and committed to Cattaraugus County Jail without bail while she awaited extradition.
A bench warrant was issued June 3 after Mitchell allegedly failed to appear for a formal arraignment in McKean County Court. The arraignment was for a case in which she is charged with conspiracy-robbery, conspiracy-selling a noncontrolled substance represented as a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy-theft by unlawful taking.
When Mitchell was first arraigned on the above charges, she was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail. Court records indicate she posted bail on March 3.
She is scheduled to appear Thursday in McKean County Court for a hearing.
