A Smethport man is in McKean County Jail on drug-related charges for an incident June 9 in the borough.
Steven E. Dunkle, 42, of 32 E. Willow St., is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of children, first-degree misdemeanors; two counts of recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors; and one count of possession with the intent to use drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, on June 9, Smethport Borough Police were dispatched with the ambulance to Dunkle’s residence for a cardiac arrest with CPR in progress. At 4:25 p.m., police arrived to find Dunkle on the floor, with a relative performing CPR. Police said Dunkle had a “blue tint to his body” and he was not responsive.
When the ambulance arrived, Dunkle was given a dose of Narcan, which revived him. He told EMS personnel that the drug he used may have been laced with fentanyl, the complaint stated.
Police found drug paraphernalia on the scene as well. According to the complaint, Dunkle was using drugs in the house where two children were in residence.
Dunkle was arraigned before District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $40,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Todd on Monday.
