SMETHPORT — Amateur “ham” radio operators from the McKean County Amateur Radio Club will be participating in a national amateur radio exercise from 2 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday at the Elk Lick Scout Reserve on Bordell Road in Smethport.
The event is ARRL Field Day (www.arrl.org/FieldDay), an annual amateur radio activity event.
Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. This is the largest all-volunteer radio communications exercise in the world
The public is invited to attend this event.
