SMETHPORT — The McKean County commissioners approved a resolution Tuesday that authorized the filing of an Emergency Solutions Grant application to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to provide homeless services on behalf of A Partnership in Housing and the YWCA Bradford.
The application seeks a total of $318,937, of which $136,336 is for services through APH and $182,601 for services through YWCA Bradford.
APH will assume responsibility for securing $136,336 in a matching amount for services provided through their agency. YWCA Bradford will assume responsibility for securing the required $291,558 matching amount of grant funds provided through their organization.
Commissioners also OKd three County Aid applications. Hamlin Township plans to use their amount of $2,523 for winter maintenance, while Ceres Township’s allocation of $4,884 is for road maintenance. Annin Township’s $5,284 is earmarked for future use.
Commissioners also approved an ARLE grant for the planning department to file on behalf of 11 municipalities.
ARLE is the Automated Red Light Enforcement Transportation Enhancement, established in 2010 at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, aimed at improving safety at signalized intersections by providing automated enforcement at those locations where data shows red light running has been an issue.
Jeremy Morey, county planning director, said his department will apply for ARLE funding to purchase 299 stop signs on behalf of Lafayette, Hamilton, Hamlin, Annin, Keating, Corydon, Otto and Wetmore townships and the boroughs of Mount Jewett, Lewis Run and Port Allegany.
Morey said this grant would be completely funded by the state, and the municipalities can be reimbursed for their in-kind services, such as installing the signs.
The commissioners’ next public meeting will be at 10 a.m on July 13.
