The Kinzua Bridge State Park Complex will hold DiscoverE! Day camp programs for children 3-12 at Bendigo and Kinzua Bridge state parks.
DiscoverE! encourages children to learn more about the world in which we live by getting outdoors to explore, experience, and enjoy the opportunities in state parks. Activities vary by program but most will include games, crafts, guided hikes, and habitat explorations.
Specific dates, times, and programs are listed below under each park. Registration is required as DiscoverE! Programs are limited to 10 campers and their guardians. There is no charge for these camp programs. A parent or guardian is required to attend with their children. To register, call Kinzua Bridge State Park at 814-778-5467 or email kinzuabridgesp@pa.gov.
Bendigo State Park DiscoverE! Programs
Outdoor Explorers for 6-8 year olds will be held July 13-14 at Bendigo State Park.
Participants in the Outdoor Explorers program will meet new friends while learning about the habitats and wildlife that can be found at the Park. Activities on July 13 will include games and a guided nature hike with park educators. On July 14, the group will dive into the stream ecosystem by conducting a stream study to discover what creatures live in this watery habitat. Campers will also learn about fishing and get a chance to practice their casting skills!
Penn’s Adventurers, a program for 9-12 year olds, will be held July 15-16 at Bendigo State Park.
Participants in the Penn’s Adventurers program will learn and develop their outdoor skills while learning about the habitats and wildlife that can be found at Bendigo State Park. On July 15 campers will take a guided wildlife walk with park educators and hone their archery skills. July 16 will focus on survival as campers learn orienteering skills and go geocaching in the park.
Hike ‘n Seekers, for children 4-5 years in age, will be held July 21 at Bendigo State Park.
In this DiscoverE! program, young learners will have the opportunity to explore nature at the park. The group will take a nature walk with park educators and also have fun playing games and doing nature based crafts.
Kinzua Bridge State Park DiscoverE! Programs
Kinzua Bridge State Park will also hold the Outdoor Explorers, Penn’s Adventurers and Hike ‘n Seekers programs.
At Kinzua, Outdoor Explorers will be held July 27-28. On July 27, the group will investigate animal tracks on the trails and then make their own tracks. On July 28, they will explore the world of reptiles and amphibians and go for a hike in search of these unique animals.
Penn’s Adventurers will be held July 29-30 at Kinzua Bridge. On July 29, they will investigate the world of birds. Learning what makes birds unique as we search the park for feathered friends. July 30 will provide opportunities for campers to hone their outdoor skills including activities like geocaching and archery.
Hike ‘n Seekers will meet Aug. 2 at Kinzua Bridge State Park.
Young learners will have an insect investigation in this engaging half day program. Through songs, games, and crafts they will learn about what makes insects unique. This program also includes a guided insect hike with park educators.
