The Zonta Club of Bradford held its Scholarship Luncheon on June 9 at The Bradford Club. Club President Fran Stewart called the meeting to order and welcomed all members, guests and scholarship recipients. The Pledge of Allegiance and Zonta Blessing were recited.
The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
Stewart reviewed the budget. The Finance Committee will meet in July to prepare the budget proposals for the 2021-22 year
Also, Stewart gave a lively review of the club’s year. She praised all the members for the club’s achievements this past year, saying they were flexible, hardworking and thought outside the box during a very different year.
All ideas for speakers for next year should be submitted to the PRPR committee. The Mystery Dinner will be held on June 22. This year it will be a very informal event. All members are invited to attend.
Carol Shannon, co-chair of the Scholarship Committee, welcomed the scholarship recipients and their guests to the luncheon. A brief history on how the Ruth B. Fisher Scholarship was started was read to the group.
Each scholarship recipient was presented with a $500 check, a certificate and a yellow rose. Carol Shannon introduced each girl and made the presentation. This year’s awards went to Madison Hartman, Mackenzie Lucas, and Sydney Rodgers. The entire club congratulated the girls.
An induction ceremony was held for the newest member, Vicky Pingie, who joined in December. Due to COVID restrictions, the club was unable to induct her at that time. Stewart led the induction ceremony with Membership Co-Chair Patti Neidich assisting her.
The Change for change jar was passed and $35 dollars in Happy Dollars was collected.
Kathy Kresge moved to close the meeting, with Mary Boser seconding the motion.
The next and final meeting for the year will be held on June 22 with the Mystery Dinner. Members were reminded to check their emails for more information, or people can contact any Zonta Member to join them.
