Bradford Community Pride Lions Club hosted 82 youth anglers Saturday during its first Kids’ Fishing Derby, held at Marilla Reservoir. All anglers who participated received a prize.
“Thank you to everyone, we can’t wait until next year,” said Club First Vice-President Deb Craft.
Craft said Lions Club members and kids alike had fun during the event. Craft expressed thanks to the event’s sponsors and also to the parents for bringing the kids out to participate. She also expressed gratitude to Bradford Township Police, Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department and Corydon Township Fire Department for their help during the event.
Next year’s event will be expanded into an expo, Craft noted, with the Pennsylvania Fish & Game Commission planning booths to teach fly fishing and trapping. Additional activities are also a possibility.
Chairman Lion Joe Paulik and President Lion Jim Craft promise there will be a lot for the kids to enjoy.
The Bradford Community Pride Lions Club also hopes to see people at the food sale at 4 p.m. Saturday and in Veterans Square July 9 for the Club’s Free 100 Hot Dogs Day.
