Jordan Pavlock was awarded the newly formed Michael Zaehringer Memorial Scholarship on June 6.
Michael Zaehringer was a Smethport High School graduate in 2001. The award fund was created this year to honor his memory after his passing in 2018. Tim Lyon, a high school friend of Zaehringer’s, used GoFundMe to initiate the fundraiser.
The scholarship was available to all Smethport class of 2021 graduating seniors who are pursuing post-secondary education.
Pavlock is the recipient of the $3,400 award.
A recent graduate of Smethport High School, Pavlock is also the valedictorian of the Smethport Class of 2021. He was an avid participant in cross country, basketball, Mock Trial, DECA, marching band and student council. He will pursue a bachelor’s degree in political science at The University of Notre Dame this fall and is exploring the option of a career in law.
