A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail after he allegedly assaulted multiple law enforcement officials and tried to escape.
Jordan M. Johnson, 20, was arraigned Thursday before District Judge William Todd and committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Johnson is charged with two counts of aggravated assault-attempts to cause or causes bodily injury to designated individuals, second-degree felonies; resisting arrest and escape, second-degree misdemeanors, according to court records.
According to Bradford City Police, at 9:38 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to 138 East Ave. to help a state parole officer who was involved in a physical altercation with a parolee. The parole officer was trying to detain the parolee, and the person was allegedly resisting.
Police reported that the parole officer suffered minor injuries and was later treated in the emergency room at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
City police took Johnson into custody, and when officers were placing him into the patrol car, Johnson allegedly tried to escape. He was immediately captured and taken to the Bradford City police station, according to police.
At the station, Johnson kicked an officer, “intentionally causing pain and minor injury,” police stated.
A preliminary hearing is set for June 16.
Court records indicate that Johnson is on state parole for a prior methamphetamine delivery case. He pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy-possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and was sentenced Jan. 2, 2020, to one to two years in state prison.
