Bradford City Council approved resolutions to hire one full-time firefighter/paramedic, one part-time firefighter and summer help during Tuesday’s regular meeting.
Council voted unanimously to appoint Evan Piganelli as a full-time firefighter/paramedic, effective May 24. Council also approved Micah Jordan as summer help to cover members’ contractual vacations and holidays from June 12 through Sept. 1 and TJ Danielson as a temporary firefighter/EMT “as long as a full-time firefighter is absent due to illness or injury or long-term absence.”
Councilman Brad Mangel stated that the Department of Property Maintenance and Inspection has been receiving complaints regarding high grass, garbage and failure to clean up dog feces. Residents are reminded to follow city ordinances in regard to cutting grass and putting garbage at the curb and to clean up after pets.
In other business:
— Council approved a $748.30 Facade Improvement Grant for Bradford Performing & Creative Arts Center for new lettering on the storefront at 119 Main Street.
— Council approved payment of $19,061.06 to Penelec from the Office of Economic and Community Development’s CDBG account for the purchase of 10 light poles in the historic district as part of electrical reservicing for the Main Street Phase II Streetscape Improvement Project.
— Council approved payment of $4,792.50 to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford for the 2021 first and second quarter charges for athletic field maintenance.
