SMETHPORT — The McKean County Conservation District has announced the winners from the poster contest it hosted for 2021.
Entries from 99 students highlighted the theme “Healthy Forests-Healthy Communities.”
The winners are, in Grades 4-6: first place, Kylie B. from Kane Area Elementary; and second place, Brock M. from Port Allegany Elementary. Winners are, in grades 7-9: first place, Khale S. from Otto-Eldred High School; second place, Carrie D. from Otto-Eldred High School; and third place, Adelyn B. from Otto-Eldred High School. Winners in grades 10-12 are, in first place, Kayley H. from Otto-Eldred High School; second place, Jeremy P. from Otto-Eldred High School; and third place, Morgan D. from Otto-Eldred High School.
“Participants submitted excellent, creative posters,” stated the conservation district.
The Allegheny Hardwood Utilization Group (AHUG) sponsored the contest and provided prizes. First place winners were presented a Nature Journaling Guide and Kit; second place, breakfast from the Forest Maple (with real maple syrup); and third place, tree field guides and AHUG apparel.
