The Bradford Area Public Library is back this summer with a wide variety of children’s activities.
Youth Services Librarian Debbie Dean provided The Era with an extensive list of upcoming events, including the Summer Reading Workshops, which will be held from June 15 through July 22 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Tuesdays will be for ages birth through 5 years, Wednesdays, first through third graders, and Thursdays, fourth through sixth graders.
A Reading Challenge will be held for children and teens, where they will have a chance to earn prizes and badges. Read books can be logged on bradfordlibrary.beanstack.org.
The challenge for ages birth through 13 years will be held from June 1 to July 30, where they will have a chance to earn prizes and badges. Prizes will be awarded on Aug. 6 during the end-of-program picnic at 11 a.m. at Jan Hamilton Park.
The Teen Reading Challenge will be held from June 1 through Aug. 6. Prizes will be awarded the week of Aug. 9.
Marty the Bubble Guy will be appearing at 11 a.m. at Callahan Park, which is described as a fun interactive music show for kids. More about Marty can be found on the Marty’s Bubblegum Machine Facebook Page.
Mike Morton’s Petting Zoo will be returning with some furry friends from Sun Dance Kids Farm at 11 a.m. on both June 25 and Aug. 13 at the library. More information on Mike Morton and his farm can be found on the Sun-Dance-Kids Farm Facebook page.
At 11 a.m. on July 8, Jeffini the Great Magician will be appearing at Jan Hamilton Park with a comedic magic show. More information about his show can be found at https://www.jeffini.com/.
At 6:30 p.m. on July 26-28, a Dissection Lab hosted by OrJames Labs will be held at the library.
“This summer we will be dissecting a kidney, performing a urinalysis and an introduction to microscopes,” said Dean.
A Read-A-Thon will be held at the library from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 9.
Last, but not least, Laura Hickey will be holding Teen/Tween art workshops at 4:30 p.m. every Wednesday, from June 23 through July 8.
“Planned projects are paint pouring, faux stained glass, Zentangle poetry, thumbprint art, Shadow art, and weaving,” explained Dean. “Ages for art class are 12-18.”
Snacks will be given at the library from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m. Monday through Friday and during programs. All outdoor programming will be weather pending.
