EMPORIUM — Alex Ognen pitched a perfect, five-inning game and Smethport’s offense rattled off five runs in three different innings in Thursday’s rout over Cameron County.
Ognen struck out nine of the 15 batters he faced, while adding a hit and three runs scored offensively.
Brandon Higley led the Hubbers at the plate, going 3-for-5 with six RBI and a run scored. Travis Cooney finished 2-for-4 with four RBI, while Noah Lent, Alex Cole and Kameron Rounsville each had two hits and an RBI for the Hubbers (7-7).
Lent and Rounsville each scored three runs, while Cole led the team with four. John Adamoski also scored two runs.
For Cameron County, Eastyn Solveson, Devin Fowler and Lathan Reed combined to allow 18 runs (five earned) on 14 hits and eight walks with four strikeouts. The Red Raiders committed eight errors.
