Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter #1704 gathered from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
The meeting was brought to order by Silvana R., the chapter leader, with the recitation of the T.O.P.S. pledge.
There were seven members who weighed in, and the main discussion involved chapter business for the month of April. The total weight loss reported for the month of April was 8.8 pounds, including one member who turtle (remained the same weight from the previous month). Silvana R. was named the Queen for the month.
As many states are starting to re-open, it is important to tread softly back into normal routines and still continue to mask up until further notice, wash hands regularly and continue to sanitize as often as possible.
Cookouts and barbeques are underway. Many healthy food options are available. For instance, chicken thighs are chock-full of important vitamins and minerals. Four ounces of cooked chicken thighs contain zinc, niacin, phosphorus and 30mcg of selenium. People 31 years and older need 55mcg of selenium per day. Selenium is an important antioxidant and supports thyroid health. Chicken thighs also are very versatile with recipes and tend to be an affordable protein option.
In closing, members are to try to avoid late night eating and strive to come in next week with a loss.
As a reminder, the location for T.O.P.S. Chapter #1704 has changed location. The club now meets at the Lewis Run Volunteer Fire Department, at 46 Main St., Lewis Run. Everyone is welcome to check it out.
