A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly assaulting a woman at a Main Street apartment Monday afternoon.
Anthony Joe Fenton, 36, of 117 Main St. Apt. 2, is charged with aggravated assault with extreme indifference, first-degree felony; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, both second-degree misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, at 12:36 p.m. Monday, Bradford City Police and the fire department ambulance responded to a call of an unconscious woman, possibly in cardiac arrest. Paramedics and police immediately began rendering aid, as the woman had no pulse or respiration.
“After an extended period of time the paramedics were able to temporarily revive the victim and transport her to Bradford Regional Medical Center for further treatment,” arresting officer Patrolman Jason Putt stated in the criminal complaint. The victim was later flown to a regional trauma center “for further treatment of her life threatening injuries.”
Putt determined that Fenton was the only other person in the residence. When police interviewed him, Fenton said the victim had fallen down the stairs of the apartment. However, the victim’s injuries did not support that story, the complaint alleged.
At BRMC, Putt was able to observe the victim’s injuries, which included deep bruising and ligature marks around her neck and human bite marks on her face and hand, the complaint stated.
Fenton was arrested and arraigned late Monday night before on-call District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $125,000 bail. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for 9 a.m. May 19 before District Judge Dom Cercone.
Numerous officers with Bradford City Police, Bradford City Emergency Medical Services, State Police Forensic Services, Bradford Regional Medical Center, County Detectives and District Attorney’s Office assisted in the case.
