COUDERSPORT — Abbigail Schleicher and Emma Swanson were quadruple winners for Bradford, helping the Lady Owls to a team victory in Saturday’s Coudersport Invitational.
Schleicher won the 100-meter (13.2), 200-meter (28.2) and 400-meter (1:03.1) dashes and assisted the 1600-meter relay team to a victory. Swanson was part of the victorious 400-meter, 1600-meter and 3200-meter relay teams and also took home a win in the 300-meter hurdles (50.5).
The Lady Owls also had one triple winner in Emily Bosworth, who assisted in the team’s wins in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter relay wins as well as the 800-meter run (2:33.6).
Kelcie Little and Abbie Nuzzo were double winners for Bradford. Nuzzo earned first place finishes in the triple jump (31-0) and pole vault (7-9), while Little won the 100-meter hurdles (17.0) and helped the 400-meter relay team.
Individual winners for Bradford included Korie Dixon, who won the 1600-meter run in 5:38 and Kayelyn Eschrich, who took first in the high jump with a mark of 4-8.
The 400-meter relay team of Little, Swanson, Alexia Corignani and Mackenzie Lucas finished first with a time of 54.2, while the 1600-meter team of Bosworth, Schleicher, Swanson and Marissa Miller finished in 4:26.8 for first place. Bradford’s 3200-meter relay team of Swanson, Bosworth, Leila Bines and Hannah Lary earned a first place victory with a time of 11:05.8.
Numerous other Lady Owls finished in the top four of their respective events.
Haley Hallock finished third in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.9, while Austin Sherwood was fourth in 20.3. Hallock was also fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.1. Lucas came in third in the 100-meter dash in 14.0, while Bines placed fourth in the 1600-meter run in 6:38. In the 400-meter dash, Miller came in second with a time of 1:04.6 and Maddie Emerson was fourth in 1:16.
Lary came in second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:35.5, while Caitlyn Taylor finished behind her in third with a time of 2:43.4. Lary also placed third in the 3200-meter run in 13:07. Dixon was in front of her for second place in the same event with a time of 12:17.
The 200-meter dash also saw Corignani finish second behind Schleicher in 29.6. In the long jump, Nuzzo and Little finished second (14-5.5) and fourth (13-9), respectively. Little also came in third in the triple jump with a mark of 28-9.
Along with Nuzzo’s victory in the pole vault, Bradford went on to take the next two places, with Kara Longo finishing second (7-3) and Lanie Allen coming in third (6-9).
In the throws, Ally Luke got second in the shot put (32-9.5) and Sophia Asp was third in the discus (82-6).
“We had a very good day despite some interesting weather. We improved and got to try athletes in new events,” Bradford girls coach Larry Stillman said. “Our throwers, especially Ally, Sophia and Lily Kemick had personal bests. The hurdlers and sprinters improved and our distance girls got in some good races. Kayelyn Eschrich looked very good winning the high jump.”
Elk Catholic had two competitors earn victories with Grace Nibert winning the 3200-meter run and Tori Newton placing first in the javelin. Coudersport’s Kylie Welsh won the long jump and Rosalyn Page was a double winner after earning victories in the shot put and discus.
