Bradford Area Public Library’s children’s activities are moving outside . . . weather permitting!
The Youth Department is excited to see area children for some in-person programming, beginning with the Story Seekers program that has been meeting via Zoom at 11 a.m. every Monday and Friday for the past year. If the weather cooperates, these sessions will be held at the Jan Hamilton park (corner of Campus Drive and Barbour Street). Story Seekers always involves stories, songs and activities for the little ones.
Juice Box Heroes, led by area musician Jim Ronan, has met every third Wednesday via Facebook Live streaming. This program will also move outside in an effort to become an in-person once again. Currently, youth librarian Debbie Deane is considering the Jan Hamilton park or directly outside the library as possible venues for this musical program for area preschoolers.
The Youth Department is also offering two Saturday craft activities for Bradford’s youth during May. These in-person programs are free and registration is not required; however, by registering the library can ensure enough material is on hand for all participants. Otherwise, as supplies will be limited, it will be offered as a first come-first serve program.
On Saturday from 1-2 p.m., participants will be invited to create a mason jar votive for Mother’s Day. The second craft event for youth will be held on May 22 at 11 a.m. Participants will paint wooden stars that can be fashioned into a wreath in honor of Memorial Day.
These events will be held directly outside the library. In the event of inclement weather, the activity will move indoors with safety measures being observed (i.e. face masks, social distancing, and hand sanitizer made available).
It is recommended that interested individuals sign up to have their names placed on the youth department’s mailing list to receive late-breaking updates regarding these outside programs. To receive email updates, email youth@bradfordlibrary.org. Area residents are also urged to follow the library on Facebook, as notifications for pop-up storytimes and weather updates will be conveyed on this platform, too.
