Smethport 11, Coudersport 7
COUDERSPORT — Late offense paired with timely Coudersport errors created the perfect storm for Smethport to hand Coudy (8-1) its first loss of the season on Friday.
The Hubbers (1-3) scored two runs in the sixth inning and four more in the seventh, winning a battle of bullpens.
Travis Cooney had two hits for Smethport, which scored six runs on Coudy relief pitcher Garrett Kellert, none of which were earned.
Tied at five in the top of the sixth, a leadoff walk to Alex Cole preceded an error on a fly ball hit by Noah Lent. Cole scored, then Lent came around on a single by Alex Ognen.
After Ognen shut the door on the Falcons in the bottom half of the frame, Cole singled in a run before a wild pitch scored a second and an infield error scored two more.
Coudy managed two runs in the bottom of the seventh but left the bases loaded.
Kellert had two hits for Coudy, including a double, and scored two runs. A.J. Redmond and Ashton Huck each drove in two runs for the Falcons.
