charged with statutory sexual assault
An Oil City man is facing allegations that he had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl.
Jonathan L. King, 20, of 113 E. Bissel Ave., Oil City, was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge William Todd on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, a first-degree felony; statutory sexual assault: 4-8 years older and aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16, second-degree felonies; and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, a second-degree misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, on March 15, Port Allegany Borough Police received a report that King had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
The girl told investigators that King knew she was only 14, and that after they had sexual intercourse, he told her that she could not tell anybody because he did not want to go to jail or lose custody of his daughter who he had with another woman in Oil City, the complaint alleged.
The complaint stated that the girl did not report the assault sooner because she was scared of what King would do to her.
King is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing is set for May 3.

Little Valley man accused of stealing car from driveway
Jeffrey S. Wood Jr., 25, of Little Valley, N.Y., was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of theft by unlawful taking, a third-degree felony, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a second-degree misdemeanor.
The criminal complaint states that at 6:04 p.m. Feb. 21, a Bradford City police officer was dispatched for a report that someone stole a company car belonging to B&T Contractors. The car had a GPS tracking system that showed it was in Jamestown, N.Y., at that time. The Bradford City officer contacted Jamestown Police Department.
At 7:34 p.m., Salamanca (N.Y.) Police contacted the officer to say they located the car and detained the occupants: Wood, who was the driver, and passenger Michael King, the complaint stated. Wood allegedly told Salamanca Police that he had permission from the vehicle owner to use it.
However, the owner of B&T said he did not know Wood or King, and only employees have permission to use the car, according to court records. Also, the employee who had permission to use the car — the car was parked in his driveway — said he went outside to find the car stolen and he had not given anyone permission to use it.
Wood is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary is set for May 5, which is also the date for hearings in two DUI-controlled substance cases against him.
