McKean and Elk Counties are among 55 counties at substantial risk of community transmission of COVID-19 Tuesday.
In the weekly update, Governor Tom Wolf and Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam said the state has only three counties are at low risk, and two of those are within our coverage area: Cameron and Potter counties. Meanwhile, nine counties are at moderate risk of transmission.
Percent positivity for the state is at 9.6%. Meanwhile, McKean is at 12.1% with reports of 32 cases of coronavirus over the past seven days, which is one more than the previous week. Elk County is at 9.5% positivity with 30 fewer cases than the previous seven days, which is 1.8 less than in the week before.
“COVID-19 remains a threat in our communities and we continue to report thousands of cases each day. The vaccines are giving us a glimmer of hope as we continue our fight against the virus,” Gov. Wolf said. “As residents get vaccinated, it remains important for us to stay the course and continue washing hands, wearing a mask and social distancing.”
One county in the state reportedly has a percent positivity greater than 20%: Wyoming County, at 21%.
