PORTVILLE, N.Y. — Children and their families will be able to enjoy the storybook trail at the Lillibridge Property of Pfeiffer Nature Center now through the month of May.
Pfeiffer staff members invite area residents to join them at the property for the new storybook adventure located on the Storybook Reading Trail for young readers. Children will be able to read the tale “I am Earth,” which is an Earth Day book for kids located on the Interpretive Trail, also known as Griffin’s Way. The trail is an easy, .36 mile round-trip trail through the old growth hemlock forest. The storybook pages are held in place by trees also referred to as Pfeiffer’s “gentle giants.” Youngsters are asked to read the pages as they pass by — and be sure to read both sides of the tree.
A map at the Lillibridge kiosk will help participants find where their adventure begins. While the book, which will be available through the end of May, is a great kick-off to celebrate Earth Day on April 22, staff remind visitors that every day is Earth Day at Pfeiffer. Therefore, the book is a great read year-round.
The Lillibridge Property is located at 1974 Lillibridge Road in Portville. Participants are asked to share their pictures and let the staff know how they enjoyed their visit by sending emails to naturalist@pfeiffernaturecenter.org
