IN MEMORIAM: Each year, The Era publishes a special section of the newspaper devoted to the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice, and perished in service of their country.
Memorial Day is a day to remember those who died in active military service. This year, we not only want to honor those who died in service of their country, but also those veterans who came home from active duty but have since passed away.
We request that families who would like to see a loved one included in this year’s Memorial Day special section to submit a photo and a written description of their loved one’s service.
Electronic submissions are preferred. Please send submissions to: news@bradfordera.com
Submissions may be dropped off at the Era’s office between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Please do not drop off or mail keepsake photos.

NATIONAL LIBRARIAN DAY: There are 317,596 librarians, curators, and archivists working at 2,323 libraries and archives establishments in the United States. Today is a good day to stop and appreciate those who choose this career path.
Some facts:
The employment of librarians is expected to rise 9% between now and 2026.
The job is a common tie between several notable names, as former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, author Lewis Carroll, former first lady Laura Bush and China’s Mao Zedong all worked as librarians or in libraries.
Finally, librarians watch over more than books. The Library of Congress has been preserving recordings since 2002 and The New York Public Library contains 46 million items, including artifacts in addition to books.
