Rainbow Corner Preschool, part of CARE for Children, is celebrating its young learners during The Week of the Young Child this week.
The week is highlighted by fun, themed days with hands-on, collaborative activities encouraging movement and healthy lifestyles through music, food, and art.
Activities for the week have included making colorful xylophones with mason jars and exploring sound vibrations on “Music Monday;” an ice cream cone craft project led by Kim Miller, OTR/L, CARE occupational therapist and cookie decorating on “Tasty Tuesday;” and team activities, including a game of giant Jenga on “Work Together Wednesday.” “Artsy Thursday” and “Fun Friday” will round out the themed days for the week.
The Week of the Young Child, an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), focuses public attention on the needs of young children and their families and recognizes the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.
