COUDERSPORT — The Coudersport Falcons found themselves in hot water early on against Port Allegany on Wednesday evening.
The Gators loaded the bases with nobody out in the first inning and looked to be in good position to do some damage. Coudersport pitcher A.J. Redmond had other plans, though. He regained control and got his team out of the jam relatively unscathed as he allowed just one run.
From there, the Falcons ran away with the ballgame en route to an 8-4 victory, improving to 5-0 on the season. They scored at least one run in each of the first four innings, including three in the second and two in the fourth. Derek Easton had just one hit in four plate appearances, but it was a double that plated those three runs in the second inning.
Redmond did a little bit of everything in the contest. He struck out seven in six innings of work on the mound, went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run.
After scoring just one run on a major opportunity in the first inning, the Gators (2-4) did not score again until the sixth inning. They added one more in the seventh but could not start a rally.

COUDERSPORT — Coudersport (2-1) scored 11 runs within the first two innings in a decisive home victory over Port Allegany (1-5).
Multiple Falcons had impressive nights in the batter’s box. Sierra Myers had three hits — all of them doubles — in five plate appearances while driving in three runs. Mackenzie Gentzyel had three hits — two singles and a double in four at-bats. She drove in two runs. Seven other Falcons had at least one hit in the game. Five of them also had at least one RBI, including Kaylee VanWhy, Addie Myers and Savannah Myers, who each had two.
Port Allegany did not plate any runs in the first three frames but avoided the 10-run mercy rule with a six-run fourth inning. The rally started with a Bree Garzel homer and a Thea Petruzzi RBI single. Two walks, a wild pitch and a steal of home also led to runs that inning.
On the mound for the Falcons, Addie Myers pitched 3.2 innings. She struck out six and walked six while giving up a pair of runs. Ryelle Black came on in relief and struck out two batters in 3.1 innings.
Kaylee Boyd and Marah Rush combined to give up 15 hits and 11 earned runs on the mound for Port Allegany.
