A Bradford woman is in McKean County Jail for allegedly fleeing from police Tuesday morning.

Karlie Ann Ryan, 25, of 41 Main St., is charged with fleeing from police, a third-degree felony; possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors; and resisting arrest.

According to the criminal complaint, at 11:08 a.m. Tuesday, Bradford City Police responded to a disturbance behind the Option House. Police separated the people. Chief Mike Ward saw Ryan in a vehicle crying heavily. He knew there was an outstanding felony warrant for her arrest. He made contact with her, but she ran. Ward chased her, and was able to pin her against a wall, where she continued to resist arrest until Ward had to take her to the ground and, with the assistance of another officer, handcuff her, the complaint stated.

She was combative inside the police car, kicking the windows and banging her head against the cage separating the front and back seats. She was taken to the police station and placed in a holding cell while the warrant was confirmed, according to the complaint.

While at the police station, Ryan was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a powder mixture believed to be cocaine/methamphetamine. She told police she had escaped from a drug and alcohol recovery center in Erie and knew she was wanted by state parole. She said that she had taken drugs that morning and was holding someone else’s drugs on her, the complaint stated.

She was arraigned Tuesday before on-call District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 21.
