RIDGWAY — A Ridgway man is being charged following an alleged domestic dispute Saturday during which shots were fired.
Ridgway-based state police said Timothy C. Bender, 30, allegedly stole a vehicle in DuBois and drove it to a home on Montmorenci Road in Ridgway, at which point a domestic incident ensued. Shots were reportedly fired. Bender fled into the woods behind the residence before police arrived. State police conducted a search, and Bender was taken into custody without incident, police said.
Three people were endangered in the course of the incident, police said, listing a Ridgway man and woman, both aged 74, and a 21-year-old male from Bigler as the victims of the incident.
Bender is charged with burglary, a first-degree felony; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal trespass, second-degree felonies; receiving stolen property, a third-degree felony; two counts each of terroristic threats and stalking and one count of possession of a firearm prohibited, first-degree misdemeanors; four counts of simple assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, all second-degree felonies; and two counts of harassment and four counts of criminal mischief, all summary offenses. He was arraigned before District Judge James Martin and remanded to Elk County Jail.
Police said other charges are possible.
Montmorenci Road was closed from 1:25 to 5:30 a.m. during the course of the police incident.
