WALK: April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Today, at 10 a.m., a Stand Against Child Abuse awareness walk will begin at the Smethport Firehall and end at the McKean County Courthouse.
A brief ceremony will be held at the courthouse and pinwheels will be planted. The event is intended to increase your awareness of community resources and steps to take if someone close to you experiences child abuse.

TRADITION: Joe Cucuzza let us know that he found the May flowers.
He, his wife and their canine companion were out hunting for leeks in the Lewis Run area Sunday and happened upon the flowers. He did say they were on the lookout for them, as this is the time of year to find the flowers growing.
Cacuzza noted the flower discovery is a bit later than usual, but he attributed that to the recent snow we experienced.

TODAY: Today is National Cinnamon Roll Day. Enjoy a sweet treat in honor of the day.
Meanwhile, today is also National Farm Animals Day, National Siblings Day and Record Store Day.
Some of the top record stores still open in the US include T-Bone’s Records & Cafe in Hattiesburg, Mississippi — which has an app to assist with shopping; Electric Fetus in Minneapolis — which has been in operation since 1968; Amoeba Music in Los Angeles, Shake it Records in Cincinnati, Ohio and Milkcrate Cafe in Philadelphia.
It is also National Encourage a Young Writer Day. So if you know a child or teen that likes to write, encourage them as they pick up a pen or sit down to a word document on the computer today.
