The number of new COVID-19 cases in the region jumped a bit on Wednesday to 23, 16 of which were in Elk County, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Elk County had a total of 2,628 cases, an increase of 16. McKean County’s total case count increased by 6 to 3,214. Potter County had one new case for a total of 995, while Cameron County’s case count didn’t change, and remains at 281.
The health department noted that there were 4,643 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania as of Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 1,054,298.
There were 2,384 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 446 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. In McKean County, one patient was hospitalized, in Elk, 4 patients and in Potter, there were no COVID-19 patients.
Regarding vaccines, McKean County had 4,205 partially covered and 4,741 fully covered; Elk, 2,459 partially and 8,758 fully; Potter, 785 partially and 1,646 fully; and Cameron, 493 partially and 1,120 fully.
According to the CDC, as of Wednesday morning, Pennsylvania has administered first doses of vaccine to 35.4% of its eligible population, and the state ranks 11th among all 50 states for first doses administered by percentage of population, and 5th among all 50 states for total doses administered.
Vaccine providers have administered 5,797,589 total vaccine doses as of Wednesday. There have been 2,073,705 people fully vaccinated; with a seven-day moving average of more than 85,800 people per day receiving vaccinations.
There have been 1,795,570 people partially vaccinated, meaning they have received one dose of a two-dose vaccine. And 3,869,275 people have received at least their first dose.
