ERIE — Three local businesses were cited by the state Liquor Enforcement Office during the month of March.
According to the Erie-based enforcement office, the Corner Restaurant in Smethport and Park Hotel in Port Allegany were both cited for COVID-19 related violations, while the Societa Mutuo Soccorso Maceratese was cited for a records violation.
The officers alleged that on Feb. 5, the Corner Restaurant failed to abide by COVID regulations in four separate ways. First, they did not require masks while customers were entering, exiting or traveling within the establishment; second, they sold or served alcohol to a patron for on-premises consumption in a transaction that did not include a meal; third, they allowed a patron to be seated at the bar; and fourth, permitted patrons to consume alcohol and/or food while not seated at tables or booths, the officers allege.
The Park Hotel had violations noted for Feb. 5 and 23. According to the officers, they did not require customers to wear masks while entering, exiting or traveling within the establishment; did not provide face masks for employees to wear or did not require employees to wear masks; sold and/or served alcohol to a patron for on-site consumption in a transaction that didn’t include a meal; and lastly, allowed a patron to be seated at the bar.
The Maceratese club failed to maintain records in conformity with the provisions of the Liquor Code during the period of Feb. 13, 2020, through Feb. 12, 2021, the officers alleged.
The charges will be taken before an Administrative Law Judge for disposition.
