The Frances Sherman Auxiliary of the Lt. John C. Roche VFW Post 212 celebrated its 100th anniversary with a gathering on Thursday.
Several guests attended the anniversary event to honor the auxiliary.
Bradford City Mayor James McDonald presented a proclamation, and District 19 VFW Commander Dave Swanson and VFW Post 212 Commander Steve Kloss spoke.
A number of people presented citations, too. The following citations were offered: Wendi Hennemann, Department of Pennsylvania VFW auxiliary president, from VFWA National Headquarters; Valerie DeCorte, Department of Pennsylvania junior vice president, from the Office of the Governor; VFW State Commander Ron Peters, from Pennsylvania Department of VFW; state Rep. Martin Causer, R-Turtlepoint, from the House of Representatives; and state Sen. Cris Dush, R-Brookville.
A display table of Frances Sherman memories through the years was set up. Participants had cake and light refreshments, too. Auxiliary President Amy Peterson presented guests with a glass etched to commemorate the 100 year anniversary.
The display table will remain up for a short time.
Due to COVID restrictions still in place, organizers were required to keep the event small. The auxiliary hopes it will be able to hold a proper outdoor celebration this summer.
