SMETHPORT — A Smethport man accused of damaging a window at McKean County Jail was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court.
Christopher D. Link, 30, will serve two to six months in McKean County Jail with credit for 60 days of time served and one year of consecutive probation for a charge of institutional vandalism. He will also pay $904.81 in restitution to the jail. On March 11, Link pleaded guilty to allegations that on Aug. 19 at jail, he intentionally damaged a window in A Block valued at $904.81, causing the window to shatter.
Also in court, Brittany A. Corter, 24, of Bradford, was sentenced to 23 ½ months of probation for a charge of theft by unlawful taking. She paid $1,500 in restitution prior to entering the guilty plea, too. Corter pleaded guilty Feb. 18 to allegations that on Aug. 7 she took at least $200 from another person.
Charles W. Yocum Jr., 22, of Eldred, will serve 18 months of probation for charges of unlawful kill/take big game-closed season and unlawful use of artificial light. Yocum pleaded guilty March 11 to allegations that between Oct. 5 and Nov. 21 in 2019, on at least three occasions, Yocum either took game or aided Dylan Sprester in taking game — specifically deer — during closed season, and he used artificial light to get the deer.
Derik N. Nelson, 22, of Bradford, will serve 15 months of probation for a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and several summary charges. On March 11, Nelson pleaded guilty to allegations that on Dec. 10 he failed to stop at a stop sign and drove a gas-powered minibike without a headlamp system at a time when his operating privileges were suspended or revoked. He failed to stop for Bradford City police, who were using audible and visual signals for him to stop, leading them on a low-speed chase; an officer tackled Nelson off the motorcycle.
Cody A. Whitehill, 26, of Stow, N.Y., will serve six months of probation for a charge of false imprisonment and a summary charge. On Feb. 18, Whitehill pleaded guilty to allegations that from Nov. 24-25, he physically restrained a female by preventing her from leaving a residence, and he slapped her in the face.
Jason C. Carter, 46, of East Smethport, will serve five years of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions for DUI-alcohol and controlled substance and several summary charges.
Andrew J. Ludwig, 33, of Bradford, will serve six months of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions house arrest for a charge of DUI-controlled substance.
Ronald L. Smith, 26, of Bradford, will serve months of probation with a period of restrictive sanctions for a charge of DUI-general impairment.
Jesse J. Skiver, 43, of Portville, N.Y., will serve six months of probation for a charge of DUI-general impairment and summary charges.
