The Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to announce that last Wednesday, a contract was signed to purchase two custom 2022 KME fire engines, expected to be delivered in June 2022.
These “Twin KMEs” will replace Engines 151 and 153 housed in the Custer City and West Branch stations.
The department’s initial planning, which began in December 2019, was for the purchase of only one engine, with the intent to purchase another within five years. After conducting a business evaluation, the department determined that the purchase of two identical engines at once would provide a significant cost savings.
Additionally, the purchase of identical engines will allow interoperability throughout the Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department, meaning enhanced safety for responders and improved efficiency in emergency operations.
The purchase of these engines is made possible through the resale of the two engines being replaced, member fundraising, continued financial support from the community, and the support of the Bradford Township supervisors and municipality.
