Elk County is back in the category of “substantial level” of community transmission of COVID-19, noted a status update from state officials on Monday.
McKean County was listed as in the moderate level, while Potter and Cameron counties were in the low level.
“Throughout this reporting period, we reached over one million COVID-19 cases to date in Pennsylvania as well as an uptick on our statewide percent positivity,” Gov. Tom Wolf said. “The warmer weather brings with it opportunities to be outdoors, but we must still unite against COVID-19 by wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and washing your hands frequently until the virus is no longer a threat in our communities.”
According to the status update, in Elk County, the percent positivity was 16.3%. There were 32 additional confirmed cases during the most recent time span of March 19 to 25 than there were from March 12 to 18. The incidence rate was 167.2 per 100,000 residents.
For the same time frame, the percent positivity in McKean County was at 6.4%. There were six additional confirmed cases over the time span of March 19 to 25 than there were from March 12 to 18. The incidence rate was 44.3 per 100,000 residents.

“Even as more and more Pennsylvanians are vaccinated, we must not forget to follow the mitigation measures still in place,” Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam said. “Our vaccination efforts have been ramping up as more and more vaccine becomes available. Pennsylvania has administered more than 4.7 million doses to over 3.3 million people thus far. As it becomes Your Turn to receive the vaccine, we encourage Pennsylvanians to find a provider nearest them to get vaccinated.”
