DUBOIS — The Elk County Catholic baseball team dropped two games at the DuBois Central Catholic Tournament to begin its season on Saturday.
ECC surrendered four runs in the first inning and five in the fifth in a 13-9 loss to DuBois Central Catholic in the tournament.
Four different players for DCC had two hits, while Kaden Brezenski and Dante Arminini each drove in four RBIs. On the mound, Bradin Anderson struck out eight ECC batters and allowed just two earned runs in 3 1/3 innings.
For the Crusaders (0-2), Mark Kraus, Jordan DePrator and Luke Ginther each racked up two RBIs.
ECC’s second game saw the Crusaders get blown out by South Allegheny, 18-0, in five innings.
South Allegheny built an 11-0 lead after the first three innings before piling it on with a seven-run fifth inning.
Jaxon Champ led South Allegheny with four RBIs and Damon Campano recorded three, while Matt Hresko pitched a complete game on the mound with four strikeouts and just three hits allowed.
For ECC, Ginther, Tommy Slay and David Anderson combined for six strikeouts on the mound, while Slay added a couple of hits at the plate.

WESTFIELD — Coudersport began its season in dominating fashion with a blowout road win over Cowanesque Valley in four innings.
Garrett Kellert finished 2-for-4 at the plate for the Falcons (1-0), while Jackson Glover went 2-for-3 with two doubles. A.J. Redmond, Gavyn Ayers, Ryan Clouser and LT Myers each recorded doubles at the plate as well.
On the mound, Redmond got the win for Coudy, while CV starting pitcher Mike Sipps gave up six runs in two innings on seven hits.
