SMETHPORT — A Kane man accused of having sexual contact with a child on several occasions pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court.
Jeffrey J. Vito, 50, entered a plea before President Judge John Pavlock to charges of rape of a child and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, first-degree felonies; incest, a second-degree felony; and endangering the welfare of children, a third-degree felony.
District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer explained that between Jan. 1, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2015, Vito had sexual contact with a child under age 13 a number of times.
Shaffer noted that she is seeking a sentence of 10 to 20 years in state prison, followed by three years of probation.
A sentencing date has not been set and will be scheduled by subsequent order. Vito will have to undergo a sexually violent predator evaluation.
Vito is represented by Public Defender Philip Clabaugh.
He remains incarcerated in McKean County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
