Does anyone really believe that Donald Trump should get the credit for us having the COVID vaccines? He claims we would have been waiting years if it weren’t for him.
President Biden is being criticized for allegedly trying to take credit for the vaccines and distribution. What the president did say was that COVID was the first thing on his agenda. He has done exactly that by opening up places where the vaccine can be given.
Trump said early on that the severity of the coronavirus was a hoax, that it was just going to go away and that it was no worse than the common cold.
Science should get the credit on the vaccines. I’m grateful for the effort that was made to get something to us so quickly. Trump gets credit for the more than 500,000 deaths.
With Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. not running again, what do you suppose this means for the investigations of Trump’s taxes and business dealings? He needs to pay. Can Vance get this job done before he leaves office? He can’t just close the investigation, that would be terrible. Federal prosecutors refused to pursue charges against Trump.
Trump’s refusal to turn over his tax records speaks volumes. It fits that saying: “People with nothing hide hide nothing.” Trump before he was elected said he would release his tax returns. Then he said not while he was under audit which he wasn’t.
Putting all this aside, what about the outrageous conduct while he was president? Trumpism isn’t just about Trump but a behavior of secrecy, trickery and fraud. Don’t we the public deserve a sense of accountability?
The riot he caused at the Capitol, you would think, would be enough to end his political career. Yet he still has a base that supports him. Will the Republican Party survive Trump? With only seven out 50 Republican senators voting to convict him of inciting insurrection, who knows?
I certainly see him as a liability that will only become more toxic.
