Rep. Glenn Thompson, you let me down again. You are my federal representative in Congress. You are supposed to advocate for me. Why didn’t you vote for the American Rescue Plan (ARP)?
I really could have used help getting my COVID-19 vaccination. Did you know that the Bradford area is having trouble getting its citizens vaccinated? Did you know lots of us had to sit on computers for hours looking for vaccine appointments?
ARP money will set up vaccine distribution programs. Did you know former President Trump got his vaccine in January? Did you get yours yet? Why did you vote against my getting vaccine help?
Why didn’t you vote for me to get a $1,400 stimulus check? When I get my check, I plan to pay some bills. Then I’m going to a restaurant now that I’m vaccinated. Did you know a lot of our restaurants are small, independent businesses? Why did you vote against small business by voting against the stimulus? Don’t you advocate for independent small businesses?
I remember seeing you drinking beer in the Rose Garden after you voted for that big tax break for the wealthiest Americans. Don’t the little guys deserve a financial break, too?
You didn’t vote for school children, either. Would you like our schools to be safer from infection? You know, the ARP provides money for safer schools. Why didn’t you vote for the least among us like the Good Book says?
More than 77% of Americans — Republicans, Independents and Democrats — were in favor of the stimulus package. Why didn’t you vote in my favor? Don’t I deserve your support?
