LION AWAITS: One local resident knows that March may start out calm, but that doesn’t mean it will end that way.
Howard Johnson called into the newsroom to remind us “There is an old saying for this month.
In like a lion out like a lamb, In like a lamb out like a lion.
We may have a terrible snowstorm before this month is over. I’m 87 years old and I’ve seen it happen often.”
We are grateful to Howard for the reminder. We’ll be keeping an eye on the weather as the month winds down.

KINDNESS POEM: No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. — Aesop
The Pennsylvania Humanities Council has announced a year-long initiative called the PA Kindness Poem Project. Residents across Pennsylvania are encouraged to share messages on social media that promote generosity, healing, reconciliation, and peace.
The PHC has partnered with Philadelphia poet laureate Trapeta B. Mayson, who will use these messages of kindness as inspiration for an original poem to be gifted to the state on World Kindness Day, Nov. 13.
Throughout the year, PHC will encourage participation in the PA Kindness Poem Project by regularly sharing kindness-themed quotes and other content on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
You can “Share Your Kindness” by posting messages on the above-mentioned social media sites in video, text, or image formats that include kindness-related quotes from books, poems, songs, historic and contemporary thinkers — or something completely original.
Be sure to add the hashtag#PAKindnessPoem and mention PHC to have your message shared with Mayson for inspiration for the final poem.
